TOUR – IONA PRESENTATION COLLEGE, JUNIOR SCHOOL
We are lucky in Western Australia to continue our site tours in person, and are pleased to invite you to view the IONA Presentation College Junior School.
This Junior School campus was originally divided in two and classrooms were separated from external spaces by large retaining walls, fencing and numerous ramps.
The brief was to bridge this divide, create external teaching spaces, breakout opportunities and utilise the site topography to create interesting play spaces that challenge existing students and attract new ones. The project’s success is visible upon viewing students using the space at every available opportunity. Prior to the project, students spent lunch times seated on the oval or in under covered areas. Now, students playfully transition between classrooms and the oval. In addition, staff have noticed an increase in concentration and upper body strength in students.
