St Mary's College is a Reception to Year 12 girls school in Adelaide’s CBD.
In 2016, the College embarked on a journey to deliver the new Veritas
Centre, purpose-built for the Senior School, visual art faculty and PE with a multi-purpose indoor court. The redevelopment also included a new entry pavilion and the refurbishment of the State Heritage-listed Boylan building to house administrative offices and the ICT Hub.
Externally the building is clad in zinc and polycarbonate, and the façade peels back to reveal the corners. The layers of transparency and glazing provide glimpses of ‘learning on display’ and opportunities for internal lighting at night
that further activates the street corner. At street level, a wall articulated by bands of bricks with subtle colour variations, continues the language of a walled campus. The building is highly acoustically engineered and the interior finishes are raw, robust yet warm.
Join us for a discussion on how the collaborative design process has lead to the
outcome.
