NZ Chapter - CHRISTCHURCH - End-of-Year Event - QLE's in Secondary Schools

  • 15 November 2023
  • 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM (NZDT)
  • Warren and Mahoney Offices, 254 Montreal Street, Christchurch

Join us for an evening investigating the latest research on the operative pedagogy of shared learning spaces in secondary school learning.

Researcher Megan Taylor from the University of Canterbury will illustrate her latest findings.

Secondary teachers’ perspectives on collaborating in shared, open-plan, flexible learning spaces

In this presentation, Megan will share findings that are emerging from a multi-site case study exploring secondary teachers’ perspectives and experiences of working collaboratively in open, shared learning spaces. The findings suggest that such working arrangements have particular implications in the secondary sector, where teachers are typically subject specialists, working with different age groups of students across the school day. These implications include a need to align differing perspectives on ‘flexibility’ to enhance pedagogical possibilities and to rethink school-level structures to support collaborative teaching.

Warren and Mahoney are kindly hosting LENZ in their Christchurch Offices.

The event starts at 5:00pm with networking and refreshments, with presentations starting at 5:30pm.
