Onepoto School - Ngā Ahurea: Building with a Pacific Heart

Join us to explore Onepoto School, a recently completed project, Ngā Ahurea, a building with a Pacific Heart.

Speakers, Alistair Kay, of Ministry of Architecture and Interiors, Daniella Latoa-Levi, Principal of Onepoto School and Alan Curtis, Board Chair, will offer insight into the specific qualities of the site and brief.

The Onepoto School project was about rebuilding - rebuilding the structure of the school and rebuilding the spirit of the school. It was, and is, about creating a new future of possibility for the students, the staff and their community.

Key themes for the design were village and vessel.

Village in the sense that the school would be in the form of a village but also be made of familiar and more residential forms.

Vessel in the sense that rather than have the architecture dictate spatial use the school would be a vessel for the imagination of the staff and students.
