2018 will the first year of the biannual Learning Environments New Zealand Awards. This is a opportunity to recognise learning space design from across the country, with all entries exhibited at Learning Spaces Aotearoa.


The core mission of the awards is to bridge the awareness of architects and school communities about the interplay between teaching and learning methodology and space by identifying examples of good educational spaces where innovative architectural ideas successfully support an educational philosophy.


Awards will be presented at the closing ceremony on Friday 2 November at the Learning Spaces Aotearoa end of day drinks, Hobsonville Point Secondary School (5pm 6:15pm) in the following 8 Categories:


Category 1: New Construction / Entire New Educational Facility.

Category 2: New Construction / New Individual Facility Over $8m.  

Category 3: New Construction / New Individual Facility Under $8m

Category 4: Renovation / Modernisation Over $2m

Category 5: Renovation / Modernisation Under $2m

Category 6: An Innovative Education Initiative.

Category 7: Landscaping/Outdoor Learning Area

Category 8: Renovation / Modernisation Under $500,000. (NZ only category)


Project Types can include:

       Early Years

       Primary

       Secondary

       Specialist

       Tertiary

       Other


We are using the same format as the regional awards. All entries can subsequently be submitted in the 2019 Learning Environments Australasia Awards.


Registration will open Monday 30 July 2018 with entry deadline of 28th September 2018.


Please follow a 2-step process to enter the Awards:

Step 1: Register your intent by emailing nzadmin@a4le.org.nz (Registration opens from 30 July, 2018 and closes on 14th September, 2018 at 11pm). You will then be sent an invoice.
