Join us for a school visit to Hillcrest Christian College - one of the fastest growing independent schools in Australia. Jeff Davis (Executive Head of College) has established a vision that will see the College transformed in a short time frame to offer some of the most innovative and creative learning spaces to be found in Australia. With the recent completion of the Senior Learning Community STEM Centre, the Hillcrest Christian College leadership team have overseen six major building projects within the last three years and have another two to complete to finish the Master Plan for the P-12 College, which will reach peak capacity of 1455 in 2018.
Some of the innovative learning spaces include a separate P-2 Castle, which houses all 300 students in Years Prep, 1 and 2. This facility has been purposely designed to cater for the beginning stage of schooling experience and the development of the “I Love Reading” program has seen the early literacy learning reach levels never before possible through the blend of a purposely designed space for a completely new pedagogy. The Year 6 flexible learning precinct contains a range of learning spaces in an area of 1200m2, which will hold up to 300 students. The inclusion of a skill based learning framework known as the “Secret Skills” has seen this flexible space change the pedagogical and assessment approaches to learning.
The Senior Learning Community Centre STEM centre contains 18 renovated learning spaces as well as toilets and offices. This centre can hold more than 400 students in learning environments that include Maker Spaces, Science Rooms, Maths Labs, Art and Digital Art Studios, Food and Textile Technology areas and General Learning spaces. All learning spaces at Hillcrest Christian College are fully digital with great Wi-Fi speeds and access to the latest projection screens and printers. Students are reveling in the new spaces that have all been decked out with the latest furniture for student use.
