Site visit and presentation : Marist Catholic College Penshurst

Members and non members are invited to join us to experience the College’s journey as a new place of teaching and learning.

Marist Catholic College  Penshurst is transitioning from a years 7 to 10 boys’ school of 530 students to a coeducational college for years 7 to 12 of 860 students.

The challenge for the College was to meet the needs of the Educational and Functional Briefs with existing dysfunctional 1950‘s and 1960’s buildings on a difficult narrow site with poor circulation and marginal street address.

The Master Plan sought to provide the College with Buildings suitable for 21 st century education which encouraged  students to collaborate, participate and become involved in the learning process.

Existing buildings were adapted into new collaborative learning spaces, and new areas added to provide breakout spaces for students.  A new two storey central hub was provided to become the heart of the College where students, teachers, parents and community can come together, collaborate and learn.

2015 saw the first intake of girls and the partial completion of Stage 1 of the Master Plan.  Stage 1 B of the Master Plan is nearing completion (new street address, a new Administration building, 12 refurbished learning areas, a central Hub and a ministry spaces including a Chapel, offices and a Multipurpose area) and Stage 2 is about to commence.

Stage 3, is proposed for construction next year and will provide the link between Stages 1 + 2.

The College has kindly offered refreshments at the conclusion of the visit.

Parking is limited to surrounding streets only as there is no parking on campus.  The College is only 10 minutes walk from either Penshurst or Mortdale Stations

Join us for this unique opportunity of discovery of sustainable ideas.
