Niddrie Autistic School Site Visit

We are so excited for our site visit to Niddrie Autistic School!

Guymer Bailey Architects were engaged to design a masterplan and first stage development of new educational facilities for Western Autistic School’s Niddrie campus, now independently known as Niddrie Autistic School. Originally a mainstream school site, the aging facilities were failing to accommodate modern criteria for special needs learning.

Niddrie Autistic School’s ideology is that the ‘child is at the heart of their work’. This concept divided the built form into a series of adaptable, interconnecting learning spaces that respond uniquely to student’s primary, shared, or community needs.

This innovative facility was the winner of the LEA VIC / TAS Chapter Category 4: New Building/s or Facilities Small, as well as our Overall Winner of 2022.

In the words of the judges, ‘The breadth of engagement […] delivers a project that meets the specific needs of this student group. The design embodies Niddrie’s ethos that the child is at the centre of their work.’

Join us for a tour of the facilities, discussions with key stakeholders and networking drinks after. We'd love to see you there, register now!
