Greenwith Primary School's Modular Building
The two storey permanent modular facility includes general learning areas, serviced learning areas, performance space, practice and withdrawal rooms, a green room, breakout spaces, teacher preparation space and disability access toilets.
The upgrade delivers on the school’s vision of shared open learning spaces, an abundance of natural light, a ‘state-of-the-art’ green room, ease of access to existing buildings and indoor/outdoor Performing Arts spaces.
An outdoor amphitheatre flows from the Performing Arts space to a sloped grass area that provides outdoor learning and performance spaces as well as improved entry to the school for the school community.
The building is nestled in the Adelaide foothills landscape. An external quarry-like amphitheatre is carved in the southern shaded part of the site and the building is wrapped by a suspended deck structure granting equal outdoor access to all learning areas.
On the first-floor, external learning environments are also provided to general learning areas, including a multifunctional deck structure.
The building is established around a central planted courtyard, and emphasises bringing the outdoors in, with high-level north-facing windows and views of the hills framed via portal windows.
