2022 Learning Environments New Zealand Chapter Awards

The New Zealand Chapter of Learning Environments Australasia invites you to register and enter submissions for the upcoming 2022 Learning Environments Chapter Awards.


These Awards are open to registered LEA members whose projects are located in New Zealand and demonstrate excellence in the planning and design of educational facilities.


The core mission of the awards is to celebrate excellent learning spaces where innovative architectural ideas support the education philosophy.


There are 8 Categories for the Awards: It will be at the juries’ discretion whether to present an Award and/or Commendations for each category.


If you are unsure which category your project “best fits”, please contact the awards coordinator and confirm BEFORE submission.


Innovative Education Initiative - Designed to showcase significant contributions to learning environments by schools, educators, students, designers, community organisations etc. Education Initiatives must have been delivered to students for at least 6 months – that is since before 2 March 2022.


New Educational Campus - This category applies to construction of a new school or educational institution on a new campus.


New Building/s or Facilities: Large - This category applies to a new building or new buildings in an existing school or campus. Projects must be valued at over $8 Million (AU).


New Building/s or Facilities: Small - This category applies to a new building or new buildings in an existing school or campus. Projects must be valued under $8 Million (AU).


Modernisation: Large - Renovation/modernisation projects valued over $5 Million (AU). Projects need to demonstrate extent of work completed.


Modernisation: Small - Renovation/modernisation projects valued under $5 Million (AU). Pojects need to demonstrate extent of work completed.


Small Projects Under $2 Million (AU) - A new building or a renovation, must be a learning environment.


Outdoor Learning Area - Designed to showcase outdoor learning environments or landscapes targeted at improving educational outcomes.


Note: Value of the project is the “Final Contract Sum”.


All projects must have been occupied from 2 March 2022 and construction completed within the last 3 years to qualify for entry.


Project Types can include:

  • Early Years
  • Primary
  • Secondary
  • Specialist
  • Tertiary / TAFE

HOW TO ENTER + TIMELINE:


1.  REGISTER AND PAY

OPENS: 9am Monday 4 July 2022

CLOSES: 5pm Friday 9 September 2022


To Register please email Pip Newman: nzadmin@a4le.org.nz  with the following details:

  • ·       company name,
  • ·       category you wish to enter and
  • ·       project name of your entry.

Entry fee: $250NZD + GST per entry.


One educational facility/project may be entered in multiple categories.  However, one fee for each entry/category the educational facility/project is entered into is payable. Submissions for one educational facility/project in multiple categories should be tailored to suit each category.


Pip Newman will contact you with an invoice for the entry fee and entry information package.


Entrants must be LEA members. Membership will need to be current, paid to 30 June 2023, to enter these awards.


Projects withdrawn between registration and submission closing will receive a 50% refund only. Withdrawal requests must be made by 5.00pm, 26 August 2022.  No refund will be available after the submission closing date on 2 September 2022.


Entries for which no fee has been received will not be able to progress to Judging.
