  • 12 June 2019
  • 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM (NZST)
  • Tūranga - Central Library 60 Cathedral Square Christchurch Central Christchurch 8011

Join us to explore this recently completed innovative project and to hear from the architects involved, together with a discussion on how to design and keep 21st century libraries relevant now and in the future.

Architectus and Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architechts delivered Tūranga, the new central library which opened its doors in October 2018. Built to address the earthquakes that damaged Christchurch in 2010 and 2011, the library is one of the first public buildings to open downtown after the disasters. Working with Architectus and the indigenous Māori people of New Zealand’s South Island, the design was made to celebrate rebirth in Christchurch.

Speakers:  Paula Eskett - LIANZA President (Library and Information                 Association New Zealand Aotearoa), District Manager – Waimakariri Libraries

                 Architectus - architectural representative, TBC
