NZ Chapter: Haeata Community Campus

  • 23 August 2017
  • 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM (NZST)
  • Haeata Community Campus: Atrium. 240 Breezes Road, Aranui, Christchurch

The journey of a new school, a new community, new way of learning and understanding a new learning landscape.

Haeata translates as ‘New Dawn’ which is an appropriate name for a completely new direction for education in the Eastern suburbs.

Haeata Community Campus opened its doors at the beginning of 2017 to its fair share of controversy and pre-conceived ideas; from accusations of a “social experiment” to claims of “300 children learning in an open barn”.

This visit will explore the facts behind the myths and the challenges the students, staff and community have faced since the school opened. Speakers will share the school’s successes as well as the hurdles they have had to overcome, some expected but many unexpected, the reality of  PPP and managing the expectations and needs of such a diverse community.

A tour of some of the campus facilities will follow.

Speakers to be confirmed.

This a free event, gold coin donation is welcome

This is event is sponsored by APL and Furnware
