NZ Chapter: "GROWING GREAT BRAINS"

  • 09 March 2017
  • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Chrysalis Childcare Centre 1 Jomac Place Avondale Auckland, 1026 New Zealand

Without doubt the early years in a child’s life are critical. So what does research tell us about a child’s formative years in terms of understanding the importance of early brain development and the lifelong impact this can have? Wendy Nelson from the Brainwave Trust NZ will share contemporary research from multiple disciplines including neuroscience, attachment, genetics, psychology and infant mental health.

Although it may affirm much of what you already know it may well encourage you to think differently and perhaps challenge some of the ways you think about young children.

With this in mind how does this translate in terms of learning environment design? What are the things that need to be considered? Phil Smith from Collingridge and Smith Architects will share the concepts, challenges and thinking underpinning the highly innovative and award winning Chrysalis Centre.

We will also hear from Darius Singh, Director of the Chrysalis Group who will share his own experiences of how theory transforms into practice on a day-to- day basis.
