ACT CHAPTER EVENT #3 2023

TRANSLATING FLEXIBILITY INTO ENGAGEMENT:

GALILEE SCHOOL

Galilee School is an independent secondary school, designed specifically for disengaged and vulnerable young people in Years 7-12 in the ACT and the surrounding areas, for whom the mainstream schooling environment has struggled to deliver positive outcomes. The only Special Assistance School in the Canberra region, they provide training, skill development and job-ready support for students transitioning to the workforce or to further educational opportunities. Their philosophy is learner-centred, strengths-based, relationship-driven, and restorative.

The new Senior Secondary College was opened at their Kambah campus in 2022 creating a purpose-built space for the school’s new senior cohort. Following presentations from Principal Tim McNevin and architect Erik Innes, attendees will tour the new school to hear how the spaces support Galilee’s flexible approach to learning
