ACT CHAPTER EVENT #4 2022
THE KAMBRI CULTURAL PRECINCT
Rejuvenation of a Campus:
The Kambri Cultural Precinct and the Marie Reay Teaching Centre @ ANU

In collaboration with:
DESIGN Canberra 2022
and
The ANU Centre for Learning and Teaching
Join us for an early morning tour and light breakfast commencing in the Kambri Cultural Centre. Following a welcome from Pro-Vice Chancellor Education and Digital, Maryanne Dever, we will look at how this flexible building links the ANU with its broader community whilst providing a diverse range of teaching spaces for students.
We will then move through Union Court, the heart of the university campus. From this vantage point, the new buildings that address Union Court, and the significant and reinvigorated gathering space they now create, can be fully appreciated.
The tour will move then into the Marie Reay Teaching Centre, a building that clearly articulates the shift from ANU towards more informal, blended and student-centred learning environments. Presenters will discuss the dynamic ‘ecosystem’ of formal and informal spaces in this building, as well as the challenges of strategic integration of ICT to foster collaboration and flexibility in learning.
Finally, our presenters will speak about the process of change and the challenges of transitioning into contemporary teaching and learning environments. We will look at how the new spaces changed (and in some cases haven’t changed) practice and the role that a collegial environment of professional learning has helped to foster growth and experimentation by users.

We aim to ensure our events are always thought-provoking. To help those of you that want to delve further into the ideas and concepts we discuss on the day, we will circulate some additional resources and research to all attendees after the event.
