PECHA KUCHA
Recapturing 2020
After a year of living and talking about COVID, it’s time to ‘lighten up’ and have some fun looking at great learning environments.
LEA Victoria’s first event of 2021 will look back at the 2019 Victorian Chapter award winners through Pecha Kucha style presentations. As we could not physically visit these projects through 2020, this event will provide an opportunity to share these award-winning learning environments in a fun and fast-paced format.
Projects that will be presented include:
· Category 1 – New Educational Facility, Winner: St Anne's College Kialla – Stage 1 by No. 42 Architects
· Category 2 – New Individual Facility Over $8M, Winner: Wyndham Tech School by Gray Puksand
· Category 3 – New Individual Facility Under $8M, Winner: Whittlesea Tech School by ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects
· Category 4 – Renovation / Modernisation Over $5M, Winner: St Paul's College Modernisation by ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects
· Category 5 – Renovation / Modernisation under $5M, Winner: St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School by ROAM Architects & NEAD Architecture
· Category 6 – Buildings or Renovation / Modernisation Under $2M, Winner: St. Dominic's Catholic Primary School – STEAM Centre by Minx Architecture
· Category 7 – Landscaping/Outdoor Learning Area, Winner: St Mary MacKillop Catholic Primary School by Minx Architecture
· Category 8 – Innovative Learning Initiative, Winner: Places for Learning – Contemporary Designs in Education (2007-2018) by Kneeler Design Architects
A Pecha Kucha format, sometimes called a 20 x 20, is centred around the idea of ‘talk less, show more’ and involves a presenter showing 20 slides for 20 seconds each for a total presentation of 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
