Background

When Queensland went into lockdown in March, like other workplaces, the whole of QTAC pivoted to working from home (WFH). During lockdown QTAC conducted a COVID-19 WFH in-house survey. The research drew on the principles of learning space management and the dimensions of the learning environment to understand more about how staff were adapting

What you will learn to the new, remote ways of working.

The project produced the Hybrid Model for Distributed Working and Engagement. This practical framework is a tool for strategic planning as well for evaluating the Working from Home-to-Office experience. Applicable to all workplaces, the practical strategies cover: workspaces, policy, processes, technology, people and wellbeing.

Target audience

Anyone working in the commercial or education sectors: from small to large companies, strategic leaders, managers and those wanting to future-proof their business. The topic will also provide valuable tools for schools and tertiary institutions for planning towards blended and remote modes of teaching and learning.

Presenter: Dr Janet Buchan

Janet has worked in tertiary and secondary education as a teacher, learning designer, lecturer, manager and director. She is a Learning Environments specialist with research experience in learning space design and management, distributed learning environments, educational technology, learning design and blended learning.
